Our popular sensory sessions have been running for over two years at our Huntington headquarters. Our pop up room offers a great range of equipment to explore the senses. Sessions are for both adults and children with disabilities, including sight loss, autism and learning disabilities.
The equipment in the sensory room offers a variety of sensory experiences, tactile, audio, visual and smell.
Whether relaxing with the light box, getting active with the beanbags, watching the light projections or exploring the tactile objects there is plenty to discover.
As well as our regular adult sensory sessions, which is where it all started we also offer a range of other sessions.
Active sensory sessions
An active session using activities and games to form the basis of a sensory exercise class. Warm up and cool down, music and games. Games include darts, skittles and floor basketball. A unique class enjoyed by all. Active sensory is held every other Wednesday afternoon.
Children’s sensory sessions
Designed for children from 4 years of age the children’s sensory session is a great place to explore play. From giant musical keyboards to tactile balls, fibre optic lights and bubble machines there is plenty to engage with. Over 50 children have attended the sessions since they started in 2014.
Babies and infant’s sensory sessions
Much like the children’s sensory the baby and infant session is aimed at 0-3 years.
For information on currently scheduled sessions in the sensory room, see the calendar on the Living & Learning Zone page.
We also have a catalogue of sensory items available to buy, either at our sensory sessions or by contacting Bob as below.
